When you think of linear bar grilles or perforated grilles, metal is most likely the material that comes to mind, but did you know that wood grilles are also an option? Just like our metal architectural grilles, our wood grilles are hand crafted, are available in a variety of wood species and finishes, and can be made in a range of thicknesses using advanced technology and fabrication methods. Regardless of which material you choose, Architectural Grille will always design and manufacture our grilles for optimal airflow and ventilation.
Architects, designers, and homeowners often opt for wood grilles when they are looking for a softer, more natural aesthetic. While metal is the obvious choice for industrial or ultra-modern spaces, wood grilles are the perfect complement for farmhouse, rustic, or modern country homes, as well as spaces inspired by the designs of East Asia. A major benefit of wood grilles is that they enable you to use the same finish as the surrounding wood, making it easier to integrate your HVAC grilles seamlessly into your designs. Alternatively we can leave the wood grilles raw so that you can refinish your wood floors + floor wood grilles in the same stain/finish so that they match seamlessly (just be sure to pick the same wood species as your floor material!).
When the acoustics of your space matter, wood grilles are a good choice. Wood on its own doesn’t absorb much sound, but perforated wood (wood panels with holes or slots cut out) can be used to fragment sound waves and absorb vibration.
If you can dream it, we can probably fabricate it! Architectural Grille create grilles in a variety of sizes, frames, and styles for a range of use applications.
For floor installation in high-traffic areas, we recommend an additional metal sub-frame for support and can work with you to ensure your grilles are soundly designed for maximum durability.
All materials are available raw, primed, stained, lacquered, or painted and we offer custom stain colors and color matching.
As a proud member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Architectural Grille can help you achieve LEED™ credits and certification by sourcing local or regional and/or reclaimed materials.
