House Beautiful Whole Home Concept House 2020 Up Close: The Tea Room

Room by room, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our partnership with House Beautiful on their 2020 Whole Home Concept House. This year’s home was built by Nicholas Custom Homes in Colorado’s Fox Hill, an eco-friendly community built around a sustainable farm, and proceeds from tours benefit SECOR Cares, a Colorado-based nonprofit dedicated to serving those struggling with food insecurity. Read more about the project here.

Our grilles and custom metalwork can be spotted in nearly every room in the house. First, we walked you through the stunning artisan kitchen, which features our custom brass infill panels. Then, we took a look at the treehouse-inspired dining room. Now, we’re taking a break in the tea room.

Tea Room

The Designer: Marie Flanagan

The Task: Transform a slim space between the living room and the owner’s suite into a cozy hideaway.

The Inspiration: In envisioning this quiet nook, Marie says, “I first wanted the room to serve as a safe haven, which so many of us have yearned for in the difficulties of 2020. I also wanted it to serve multiple functions, doubling as an office and tea room, where one can take meetings, entertain friends, and cozy up to read a good book.” As a Southern designer, Marie brought in a full tea setup as an emblem of hospitality and the slower lifestyle to which so many of us aspire.
