House Beautiful Whole Home Concept House 2020 Up Close: The Dining Room

What a wonderful experience it has been to partner with House Beautiful on their 2020 Whole Home Concept House. This year’s home was built by Nicholas Custom Homes in Colorado’s Fox Hill, an eco-friendly community built around a sustainable farm, and proceeds from tours benefit SECOR Cares, a Colorado-based nonprofit dedicated to serving those struggling with food insecurity. Read more about the project here.

Several rooms in the Whole Home Concept House feature our grilles and custom metalwork, so we’re taking an in-depth look at each and introducing you to the amazing designers we worked with. First, we walked you through the stunning artisan kitchen, which features our custom brass infill panels. Next up: the dining room.

The Designer: Andrea Schumacher

The Task: Create a dining space that invites guests to sit down, sip, and stay awhile.

Wine

The Inspiration: A Denver-based designer, Schumacher took her inspiration from the nature of Colorado and created a breathtaking focal point for the space: 12 large flower pendants encircling a single “tumbleweeds and sticks” hanging sculptural piece. With the ceiling height of two stories, she created a treehouse of sorts — her own Woodsy paper lines the walls with branches, and a real tree trunk provides the base for the custom copper-topped dining table.

Swing
