PANTONE: Digital Lavender - TBC
Perhaps the most highly anticipated Color of the Year, Pantone is holding off on their official announcement for a few more months. Although some speculations have been made, we won’t know the official Pantone 2023 Color of the Year until around early December. Some trend predictions point to a shade called Digital Lavender, which mixes the virtual and physical worlds with inspiration from futuristic tech and self-care wellness. We’ll find out the official Pantone 2023 Color of the Year in a few months!
SHERWIN-WILLIAMS: Redend Point
Sherwin-Williams announced that a calming, neutral color called Redend Point is the 2023 Color of the Year. Redend Point is a middle ground between natural beige and inviting blush. The shade evokes comforting, earthy, and warm feelings - soulful and subtle, minimal and cozy, infused with desert vibes and layers of emotion.
“There was so much conversation about this idea of empathy and care culture that we were seeing in the macro trend world, and we tied that to the warmer energy of certain earth-type colors,” said Sue Wadden, Sherwin-Williams’s director of color marketing. “Then, it was just a matter of determining the right color, which ended up being Redend Point. People have been drawn to nature-inspired and earthy tones the past couple years, and this is something that will continue into 2023 and beyond.”
Pairing well with natural textures and other neutrals, this color is sure to add feelings of comfort, coziness, and eathiness to a space. Embrace the versatility of Redend Point in your 2023 designs! Whether you’re switching up your wall color, adding accent decor, re-doing cabinetry, or even placing a custom color order for HVAC grilles in Redend Point through our website - this color is sure to add character and natural elements to your next design.
BENJAMIN MOORE: Raspberry Blush
Benjamin Moore has announced Raspberry Blush as their 2023 Color of the Year - a very distinct coral tinged with pink that is said to encourage confidence and awaken the senses. The definition of charismatic color, this vivid shade of red orange is a bold statement communicating color, shape and sound.
To celebrate this color, Benjamin Moore partnered with electro-funk duo Chromeo to honor the upbeat and vibrant tone of the entire 2023 palette collection. The song, aptly titled 'Raspberry Blush', highlights the creative role that color plays in self-expression for artists - in this instance, the musical direction is influenced by the color.
Add a subtle note of Raspberry Blush by painting an archway or accent wall, or envelop yourself completely by splashing on the walls, ceiling and trim to create a fearless color statement. This hue is not for the feint of heart, it's an unapologetic celebration of life loaded with opulence and optimism.
GLIDDEN AND PPG: Vining Ivy
Glidden and PPG’s 2023 Color of the Year is Vining Ivy - a moody and earthy, jewel-toned shade somewhere in between green and blue. This color brings the outdoors in, setting a great backdrop for nature-inspired design combinations. Match this shade with deep-toned wood, bright white, or gold accents for a relaxing yet luxurious look. Whether it’s more blue or more green, that’s up to you! Either way, Vining Ivy is serving the restorative, colorful energy we all need.
"Consumers are seeking to simplify in this post-COVID era, as the past two years have shed a new light on the importance of serenity and little moments," said Ashley McCollum, Glidden color expert, in a press release. "Vining Ivy embodies this vibe perfectly. It is energizing yet grounding, and it works in literally any space. Its versatility takes the guesswork out of design, leaving consumers with more time to indulge in the things that matter most to them."
"Those who love this moody hue but are still feeling in-betweenish on how to bring it into their space can treat themselves to the understated elegance of a teal accent wall or serve up a statement by featuring Vining Ivy on their kitchen cabinetry," McCollum said. "Even the most modest spaces can benefit from the teal treatment. For those short on square footage but big on style, we recommend using this rich hue as bold contrast to a neutral palette, making a petite room feel plush."
This calming and organic shade looks great on cabinetry, furniture, or custom metal accents. Request a quote on our website to create custom metalwork pieces that will make Vining Ivy truly pop in your next design space!

We haven’t just “talked the talk” when it comes to sustainability - we’re living it every single day! In partnership with Solar Energy Systems, we mounted a massive solar array to our roof, which reduces our factory's carbon footprint by 258 metric tons of CO2 each year. That’s right - we have 1,078 Trina solar panels across 80,000 sq. ft. of our roof space!
Lean manufacturing in metal fabrication seeks to eliminate waste on all production phases and we achieve this across all areas of our factory::
Besides turning to solar energy as a sustainable resource, and practicing lean manufacturing throughout the office and factory, we’ve also been utilizing recycled, raw materials. Did you know that ALL of our aluminum products are made from 94% post-consumer recycled aluminum? Aluminum is fully recyclable, so it can be reused time and time again, with no loss in quality.
We use this recycled material to create HVAC linear bar and perforated grilles, decorative panels, and much more. Using our “green” grilles can also help achieve LEED™ credits and certification for your next eco-friendly commercial or residential project.
Ordering a linear bar grille in 94% post-consumer recycled aluminum is a super easy way to beautify the smallest details in your space, with a focus on sustainability. Our eco-conscious HVAC grilles are available in both stock and custom sizes, offering an elevated and environmentally-friendly ventilation option.
Maybe you’ll go for the AG20 Green Linear Bar Grille - a popular, eco-friendly choice that is known in the HVAC industry for advanced directional air flow. The AG20 delivers an attractive design suited for environmentally responsible commercial and residential projects. At 45° deflection, the AG20 Green Bar Grille is a sustainable product that has the greatest angle of deflection of all of our linear bar grille models, which optimizes air flow into any given space.
Another great option is the AG30 Green Linear Bar Grille, one of our most popular and aesthetically advanced sustainable models. This grille features zero deflection with broader fixed face blades, offering a sustainable choice that is ideal for any high traffic surface floor application as well as side walls, ceiling, countertop and window sills on your job site.

Layering an eclectic mix of details within a space is a great way to express style. From the choice of furniture, to wall art, rugs, and even the building materials - adding a fun mix of styles will draw the eye in and create an air of excitement when you walk into a space.
Maximalism has taken the world by storm, trending on social media and dominating style blogs. Something about the moody mix of personal style and bold colors and patterns has a way of making people happy. It’s so much more personal and inviting than a cold, minimal space design. Infused with authenticity, maximalism has a way of telling a story and bringing a room to life. It’s impossible to frown when you walk into a vibrant space like this one in House Beautiful’s Whole Home Texas!
So, how can you harness maximalism in your designs? Our tip is to pay attention to the details. Nothing kills the mood in an eccentric and lively room quite like a boring HVAC vent cover, a solid white door, plain cabinets, or a predictable doggy door.
Our custom vent covers keep the maximalist vibes going strong, even down to the smallest details. We offer a variety of patterned, perforated grilles to add a bold flair in every aspect of your space. From honeycomb, to mosaic, to petals, and much more - our HVAC covers are the icing on the cake for stunning, maximalist designs.
Next time you’re engaging your inner designer, think outside the box and go big with maximalism! Remember to keep all the little details in mind, adding a variety of textures, patterns, and colors. Make the space a visual treat by infusing your character into the design in every possible aspect.
Interested to use our custom metal panels or HVAC grille covers in your next project? We have you covered. Request a quote today and we’ll even help you choose the perfect materials and finish for your custom metal designs! The possibilities are endless.
]]>New York based designer Mikel Welch, known for his work with HGTV and his iconic New York based design firm, wanted “the owners to have a space of their own that’s not a bedroom and not an office” in the House Beautiful Whole Home located outside Fredericksburg, TX. Mikel successfully transformed the intimate space into a cozy and relaxing den using neutral colors and tons of textures, his motto “neutrals don’t have to be boring,” really came through in this inviting and tranquil sitting room. By adding lots of layers, Mikel was able to incorporate various textures and tones that aligned with his neutral vision and created The Hideout with “cave-like energy by bathing every surface in palate-cleansing neutrals”.
]]>The Designer: Mikel Welch of Mikel Welch Designs.
The Task: Create an intimate relaxation space that’s separate from the bedroom and not an office - providing a neutral backdrop for cozy conversations over cups of tea, daytime naps, and evening reads.
The Inspiration: Mikel’s goal was to design an area in the home for the owners to decompress from the day and detach from the rest of the house in this cave-like retreat.

Tasked with designing a media room within the House Beautiful Whole Home in Fredericksburg, TX, but not wanting to settle for a typical ‘screens and seats’ layout, husband-and-wife duo Heather and Matt French of French & French Interiors added multifunctionality and cozy energy to this space by incorporating guest room elements. By adding a hidden pull-out bed, a guest bathroom, an attached closet, and lots of inviting spots to sit down, the designers elevated this hangout space from a boring media room to a welcoming, multi-purpose ‘chill cave.’ aptly named The Jewel Box.
]]>The Designer: Heather and Matt French of French & French Interiors
The Task: Design an aesthetic and cozy yet bold and vibrant, dual-purpose media/guest room for playing board games, reading books, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones.
The Inspiration: Texture and color are at the root of all designs for French & French Interiors - which is evident when you step inside and take in the striking, bold green colors. For this space in particular, the designer couple drew inspiration from family-centric ideas. “I hope it becomes a space to disconnect in order to reconnect,” said Heather. Designing with family in mind, Heather and Matt dreamt of a space where kids could make great memories, bring their friends over, and truly enjoy their home.

The Tasting Room in the House Beautiful Whole Home is the ideal space for sharing cocktails and stories with loved ones. Armed with the challenge of utilizing a passageway space with lots of doors, designer Jean Liu decided to incorporate modern, artistic vibes both indoors and outdoors. From the Sip Zone, to the Wet Bar, to the outdoor Breezeway, Jean incorporated her signature “warm and edited” style into this space and chose to highlight the work of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAIP) designers throughout the room. Bringing together notes of brass, pink, black, and white, this stunning Tasting Room is perfect for storing bottles, hosting cocktail parties, or enjoying a nightcap.
]]>
The Designer: Dallas-based designer Jean Liu of Jean Liu Design
The Task: Design an elevated yet stylish space for entertaining, sipping drinks, showing off bottle collections, and mixing cocktails.
The Inspiration: “So many of my clients have been asking for entertaining spaces where they can display their wine - or collections of mezcal and tequila - separate from their dining or living rooms,” Jean said. This tasting room, partially inspired by origami shapes and weavings in pink tones, features an outdoor dining room as well as a swanky cocktail station and sitting space. Jean incorporated works from Asian American designers throughout the room. “Being able to see all of these AAPI designers in one space is really heartening for me personally. It proves to me that they are doing important work, a huge part of our community, and should be celebrated in the way that I hope I have done here,” Jean said.

The Task: Add vibrance, character, and inviting vibes into this massive living room space with 20-foot tall ceilings.
The Inspiration: Drawing inspiration from the beautiful Texas sunrise, the designer incorporated a mix of grounding, earthy colors with pops of vibrancy. “When I design with lots of colors, I like to think of it like a dinner party. You want to have a mix of personalities, but they all get along and no one commands too much attention” said Emily. Mixing flowy, watercolor shapes with geometric, linear shapes helps to add balance between the feminine and masculine elements in this room.

]]>There’s no question about it - the magic is in the details. Minor design elements in a home, like door and cabinet fronts, doggy doors, and even the simplest air vent covers all send subliminal messages about our interior style, who we are and what we love. When designing a stunning and elevated space, it’s crucial to pay attention to all these small but impactful moments...after all, lots of moments make up meaningful memories!
At Architectural Grille, we’re all about celebrating the details that add character and unique, artistic charm to everyday home features.
]]>At Architectural Grille, we’re all about celebrating the details that add character and unique, artistic charm to everyday home features. Our custom metal fabrications, handcrafted by skilled artisans in Brooklyn, are designed to meet your design needs and add the icing on the cake when it comes to finishing a beautifully curated space.

This custom metal doggy door insert panel in the Whole Home features artistic dog bone cutouts below a gorgeous geometric pattern and is made using 94% post-consumer recycled aluminum with matte black powdercoat finish. Behind this door is a dog wash station and laundry room, perfect for Sunday cleaning and puppy bath time.
Check out the gorgeous solid brass infill panel we made for a media storage closet door in the Whole Home. The crisp, geometric pattern gives unique character to an otherwise boring closet door. It’s all in the details!
Here’s another cabinet infill panel, designed in a custom geometric design and fabricated from satin brass with a clear lacquer finish. Disguising the window bench’s built-in drawer storage and playing off the gold and white tones, this visually stunning piece complements the surrounding decor, textures and colors.
In the Whole Home’s outdoor kitchen, we created these gorgeous cabinet infill panels and outdoor shelving in a custom design (if you look closely you can see the L.H. Designs logo!) from 94% post-consumer recycled aluminum with a matte black powdercoat finish. These infill panels allow you to peek through the cabinets, while the shelving shows off your glassware, both creating a memorable visual moment.
Even the smallest design elements matter, especially when it comes to HVAC grilles, on ceilings or in corners, these are the last thing that a designer typically thinks about, but can have the biggest impact when you first walk into a room. The entire Whole Home features decorative vent covers in a simple yet impactful pattern called Grecian, made from solid brass with hand-brushed satin finish and clear lacquer. These everyday “boring” building products become a statement piece by contrasting with the paint and creating artistic moments throughout the house.
Handmade and custom designed solid brass and bronze bath shelving and toilet roll holders look crisp, elevated and unique in these Whole Home bath spaces.

After looking at the house floor plan, Stephenie knew that she wanted to turn the basic utility room into a multi-purpose space. “I saw it as being a laundry room, dog-washing room, gift-wrapping room, potting station, flower-cutting area, extra storage...basically a catchall for anything functional you do in the house”. Adding a quiet nook with custom desk for early morning to-do lists and to enjoy that “first cup of coffee” helped separate the utility room from the kitchen and butler’s pantry.

Designs believes that “every room needs a purpose” and wanted to transform the pool and patio area into a full-on Party Plaza by integrating purposeful elements for conversation, entertainment, cooking, and of course - soaking up the sun!
]]>
The Designer: Linda Hayslett of LH.Designs.
The Task: Design a multi-purpose backyard space that incorporates all elements of a “year round outdoor lifestyle” and goes beyond the standard pool and patio area.
The Inspiration: The outdoors can often be overlooked as an after-thought to the design process, so Linda’s goal was to think about outdoor spaces through the same lens as indoor spaces - create a second “heart of the home” in the backyard. Linda designed the outdoor kitchen with an oversized dining table, undercounter beverage and wine fridge, grilling area featuring a large sink, and lots of built-in storage with lower and upper cabinets to avoid trips back and forth to the inside kitchen. Linda completed her backyard oasis with a seating area surrounding a stone fire pit, lounge area with swing chairs, billiards table and large TV to watch the big game on Sundays, a game lawn featuring low maintenance astro turf, and an outdoor shower. This space is the ultimate summer party spot!

The Designer: Laura Hodges of Laura Hodges Studio
The Task: Design a wellness-focused home office which brings the outdoors inside and doubles as a gym while embracing biophilic design elements.
The Inspiration: Baltimore-based designer Laura Hodges created this no-pressure workout room and office in the hopes of transforming a typical office space - which may not be used as much as a kitchen or dining room - into a functional staple of the house. Drawing inspiration from the beautiful landscape outside the home, Laura’s goal was to design around the view by bringing nature into the space, using natural materials, textures, and lots of plants, however she faced a unique challenge of merging two key functions into the room - creating both a work office and a home gym. “Having the two-in-one room is not only dual purpose, but it also makes sure that you’re using the space,” she explains, “it’s not just a home office that you sometimes use and otherwise goes unused.” Laura was able to embrace the multifunctional aspect of the space by choosing furniture that doubles as both gym equipment and office decor, with an attention to aesthetics.

]]>ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE’s custom HVAC grilles and decorative metalwork feature prominently throughout House Beautiful’s fourth annual Whole Home situated in picturesque Fredericksburg, TX - an emerging design and culinary destination known for bustling shops, boutique hotels and growing viticultural region. The rolling hills set the perfect all-American backdrop as House Beautiful celebrates its 125th anniversary.
The 3,600 square foot home situated on 10 acres will be built in the Hidden Springs subdivision of Fredericksburg, with House Beautiful and Agave Custom Homes hosting a ceremonial groundbreaking on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. The Whole Home will be featured in the October/November 125th Anniversary Issue of House Beautiful and on HouseBeautiful.com, on newsstands September 28.
"Each year, we seek out an American town to build a home full of smart ideas, clever solutions, and the newest products for home from our partners,” said Carisha Swanson, Market Director, House Beautiful. “This year, each of our eight design teams will create spaces full of great takeaways that our audience can execute right now in their own homes. This will be a house that makes you rethink every nook and cranny of your own home, large or small, to make sure you're getting the most out of it.”
Eight acclaimed interior designers featured in House Beautiful's 2021 Next Wave design team: Jean Liu Design, Studio Munroe (Emilie Munroe), Toledo Geller Designs (Virginia Toledo and Jessica Geller), French & French Interiors (Heather French and Matt French), Laura Hodges Studio, Mikel Welch, LH Designer (Linda Hayslett) and Sabbe Interior Design, will each provide their design expertise to this classic farmhouse showcasing 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, open gathering areas and a large, covered veranda overlooking a sparkling pool with panoramic views of the Texas Hill Country.
“In the past year, evolving homeowner demands for truly multi-functional spaces at home has caused a surge in the design and housing industries” said Jennifer Levene Bruno, VP, Group Publishing Director/Chief Revenue Officer, House Beautiful. “As House Beautiful celebrates its 125th anniversary, now is the perfect time to reflect on these changing needs as we build a forward-thinking showcase full of real-life design ideas, with the latest products from our brand partners.”
As a Whole Home sponsor, ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE’s role was to help make each designer’s vision a reality by partnering on custom metalwork, from HVAC grilles and custom shelving solutions to cabinetry components and decorative touches throughout each room.
"This is our fourth time partnering with House Beautiful on the Whole Home project and what an honor it was to once again work with such a talented and inspirational design and build team,” says Stephen J. Giumenta, ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE, Co-Owner & Design Engineer. “Given the continued challenges we’ve faced this year, it feels especially meaningful to come together as a design community and create something beautiful and sustainable.”
ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE contributed custom metalwork to several rooms in the home, including The Workshop, The Flex Space, The Owners' Retreat, the Hideout, The Party Plaza and The Tasting Room, as well as custom HVAC grilles throughout the house. Particularly unique metalwork touches include the custom doggie door leading into a combined laundry/dog wash area as well as other custom perforated infill panels for the media closet, office storage drawers and outdoor kitchen cabinets.
This is the fourth year in a row that House Beautiful has created a Whole Home, and it’s the fourth collaboration between ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE and House Beautiful to ensure that even the smallest details of the house are thoughtfully and skillfully executed.
Along with ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE and presenting partner Signature Kitchen Suite, the 2021 Whole Home is made possible by Caesarstone, Circa Lighting, Elkay, Grothouse, Phillip Jeffries, Stearns & Foster and Trane. New partners include: Acme Brick, Arhaus, Fabricut, Farrow & Ball, Schlage, Tencel and The Rug Company.
The full reveal of the 2021 House Beautiful Whole Home is featured in the October/November issue of House Beautiful, and consumer tours begin on October 2, 2021. Proceeds of each tour will benefit Hill Country Community Needs Council, which is committed to promoting the common good and general welfare of the community by providing an organizational structure for meeting human needs.

]]>With a mix of cool blues, and accents like wood floors and furniture, warm-hued woven home accessories, and exotic plants, it captures the aesthetic of beach vacations, international styles, and global travel. Rooted in the desire to get away and relax, staycation in design is a trip around the world without leaving home.
Our grilles and custom metalwork can be spotted throughout the entire house. First, we walked you through the stunning artisan kitchen, which features our custom brass infill panels. Then, we stopped by the treehouse-inspired dining room, followed by a visit to the tea room for a relaxing cup, followed by a walkthrough of the all-in-one Boomer Suite. Now, stop by for a drink and family time in the Playroom.
The Designers: Cristina Casañas-Judd and General Judd of Me and General Design
The Task: Now that visiting the local pub may not be an option, Cristina and General Judd designed a playroom for the entire family that ensures that you won’t miss the experience — because they brought the bar home.
The Inspiration: Inspired by the old west, the team behind Me and General sought to create a modernized speakeasy. Metalwork by Architectural Grille and wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries mirror the surrounding Colorado mountains, while a circular sofa and table create an atmosphere that inspires the entire family to gather. Warm and cool tones converge from the wallpaper to the blue bar area, which features a kegerator, full-size dishwasher, microwave, glass washer, and two-in-one beverage refrigerator. “We want to feel like it’s still home, but you want to go down to get your cocktail, your happy hour,” said designer General Judd.

]]>It shouldn’t be surprising given that most of us spent the spring cooped up in our homes, but we’re seeing a blossoming of new interest in biophilic design.
]]>
What is biophilic design? Biophilic design is a design approach that seeks to incorporate nature into our spaces. It’s been on the rise in recent years thanks to its purported health benefits: studies have shown that incorporating elements like plant life and water features into our indoor spaces can boost mental and physical wellbeing. Many also point to the environmental benefits of such features, as well: indoor plants help to improve air quality, while features like green roofs help reduce the urban heat island effect.
Biophilic design elements can usually be found in the form of light, air, water, or plants. We see everything from living walls or leaf-patterned wallpaper to buildings that mimic natural shapes in their structure.
When integrating biophilic design into our grilles, we think about the patterns that exist throughout nature, such as symmetries, spirals, and tessellations. One such pattern is the crystal.
Found in snowflakes, diamonds, and even table salt, the atoms or molecules in a crystalline solid have a highly ordered structure that forms a crystal lattice. It is this complexity that we attempted to capture in our Crystal Perforated Grille, one of the newest additions to our collection of perforated grille designs.
Designed for optimal air flow capacity and ventilation needs, this pattern of crystals certainly brings nature inside.
Here at ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE, we stay ahead of design trends so that we can provide our clients with metalwork that meets their needs, from grilles to custom pieces. We love it when a client finds a pattern within our vast array of grille designs that perfectly complements their current project, but if the perfect pattern doesn’t exist, we can surely create it. Our top priority is our commitment to keeping our employees safe, so to safeguard the health of everyone on the factory floor. On top of that, we’ve implemented two new technologies to assist in our mission to reopen safely. We’ve taken several steps
]]>Of course, our return to work necessitates some changes. Our top priority is our commitment to keeping our employees safe, so we’ve taken several steps to safeguard the health of everyone on the factory floor. On top of that, we’ve implemented two new technologies to assist in our mission to reopen safely.
High-Tech Temperature Checks
The CDC is now recommending daily temperature screening at businesses, so we’ve implemented a technology called PopEntry+ to check each person’s temperature as they enter our building. The device uses a thermal camera to take an individual’s body temperature alongside an RGB camera that uses facial recognition technology to identify the individual. The data is logged in our entry system so that, should someone register a higher-than-normal temperature, that person can be notified and self-isolate if necessary.
Electrostatic Disinfection Every Month
As another preventative measure, we’ve partnered with Eco Sanitation Solutions to deploy an electrostatic disinfecting spray once a month. The process applies an antimicrobial disinfectant coating on every surface — every workstation, computer, phone, desk, machine, lunchroom, bathroom, and supply room — which kills any existing germs, prevents new ones from growing, and lasts for several weeks.
The technology behind ESS’s air-assisted electrostatic sprayer is what they call their MaxCharge™ "air-atomizing induction-charging" nozzle. Air and liquid enter the rear of the nozzle separately, then the air moves through the nozzle under pressure and meets the liquid at the nozzle tip, causing the formation of spray droplets that are 30 to 60 microns in diameter. At the tip of the nozzle, a tiny electrode applies an electrical charge to the spray, which causes a natural force of attraction between the spray droplets and target surface and allows the spray to completely wrap around — and protect — surfaces. Fun fact: this is the same technology that Southwest Airlines is now using to disinfect their planes.
Take, for example, one of the prominent color trends of the moment: black and white. At opposite ends of the spectrum, the balance of light and dark can pull a room in one direction or the other.
This trend isn’t just about black and white, though. We’re seeing high contrasts of all kinds, including dark wood paired with light hardware and industrial materials paired with soft fabrics or natural elements like branches and plants.
For us, the concept of the binary is all about the basic need for duality in design. This was the inspiration we took when designing the Binaries Perforated Grille, one of the newest additions to our collection of perforated grille designs. This design utilizes a simple shape, the line, in two different ways: standard and elongated.
The binary grille design lends itself perfectly to functional ventilation and ideal airflow, and looking at it brings a sense of balance and equilibrium.
]]>ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE is honored to announce the Frank Lloyd Wright® Signature Decorative Grille Collection, a collaboration with the Frank Lloyd Wright® Foundation to produce high-end HVAC grille covers inspired by the distinctive architecture of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright®. These specialty grilles are now available online at archgrille.com in several stock sizes and a variety of finishes and powder coat colors. ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE is able to provide estimates for custom applications on a case-by-case basis, pending project approval.
Honoring the Legacy of a World-Renowned Architect
Frank Lloyd Wright® (1867-1959) is recognized worldwide as one of the greatest architects of the twentieth century. His work heralded a new thinking in architecture, using innovations in design and engineering made possible by new technologies and materials while taking inspiration from — and working in harmony with — the natural world. His buildings represent some of the best examples of the organic architecture movement, and his creative ability extended beyond architecture to graphic design, furniture, art glass, textiles, and decorative elements for the home.
Designed with the Mid-Century Modern Project In Mind
The Frank Lloyd Wright® Signature Decorative Grille Collection includes grille designs that are suited for renovations of mid-century modern spaces but that will also appeal to architects, designers, and homeowners who simply appreciate the work of Frank Lloyd Wright®. Clients can choose from grilles inspired by elements from classic Frank Lloyd Wright® designs such as the K.C. DeRhodes House, the Frederick C. Robie House, the Park Inn Hotel, and more.
The decorative grilles are fabricated using post-consumer 94% recycled aluminum and come with several finishing options, including Aluminum Brushed Satin and Black, White, or Antique Bronze powder coats. Stock models are available in several standard sizes that will suit the desired airflow distribution needs in any residential or commercial application.
A Collaboration with the Frank Lloyd Wright® Foundation
Created as part of a collaboration between ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE and the Frank Lloyd Wright® Foundation, a portion of the proceeds from sales of the Frank Lloyd Wright® Signature Decorative Grille Collection support the Frank Lloyd Wright® Foundation’s conservation and education program.
“We are mid-century modern design enthusiasts ourselves, and it has been a privilege to partner with the Frank Lloyd Wright® Foundation to bring this project to life,” says Stephen J. Giumenta, ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE Co-Owner & Design Engineer. “We’re even more thrilled to be able to support the Foundation’s mission of inspiring society through an understanding and experience of Frank Lloyd Wright®’s ideas, architecture, and design.”

Arches and curves are a popping up everywhere these days. From doorways, furniture, to our very own grilles, this design trend is becoming a common theme in households. Read how we used this trend as inspiration in designing some of Architectural Grille's new grilles.
]]>Archways, typically thought of as more traditional, are having a serious modern moment.
Designers and architects are combining curved doorways with complementary rounded windows and arched wall mirrors. The shape is even making appearances in furniture, from curved counters and tables to curvy sofas.
We’ve seen the trend look retro (think bubble light fixtures) or more contemporary, and we like the softness and elegance that a touch of curve can bring to a room.
For us, arches and curves also call to mind the geometry of a sunrise. This was the inspiration we took in designing the Rising Sun Perforated Grille, one of the newest additions to our collection of perforated grille designs.
The shape lends itself perfectly to functional ventilation and ideal airflow, and the symbolism of the sunrise is inherently infused with optimism; looking at it makes us feel excited to take on a new day.
Here at ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE, we stay ahead of design trends so that we can provide our clients with metalwork that meets their needs, from grilles to custom pieces. What are interior design experts predicting we’ll see in 2020? The first trend we're highlighting is a classic pattern that we’re suddenly seeing everywhere: herringbone.
]]>
Here at ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE, we stay ahead of these design trends so that we can provide our clients with metalwork that meets their needs, from grilles to custom pieces. We love it when a client finds a grille pattern within our vast array of designs that perfectly complements their current project. (Although if the perfect pattern doesn’t exist, we can surely create it.)
So, what are interior design experts predicting we’ll see in 2020? The first trend is a classic pattern that we’re suddenly seeing everywhere: herringbone.
Herringbone is a particular arrangement of rectangles that gets its name from the fact that it resembles the intricately woven bones of a fish. The rectangles are set at a 90-degree angle to one another, usually with a width-to-length ratio of 2:1, although it’s not unheard of to see a 3:1 ratio or even a 6:1. Herringbone is most commonly seen in wood, brick, or tile flooring, but HGTV predicts that we’ll see herringbone used in many more creative ways in 2020.
For those looking to incorporate this distinctive pattern in a subtle way, ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE’s Red Herring Perforated Grille is an elegant option. It’s technically a “faux” herringbone, as we slightly distorted the angles to achieve optimal airflow and ventilation.
The Floral Grille in our Frank Lloyd Wright® Signature Decorative Grille Collection is also a nod toward herringbone, although its predominant pattern is technically a chevron. This design was adapted from the tulip motif featured in the leaded glass windows of the Geneva Inn, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1911.
Creating a true herringbone pattern using wood or tile is an art; every angle must be exact for the floor to come together. Because of this, the pattern has come to be associated with high-end spaces, and subtle touches of herringbone, no matter the material, tend to elevate a room.
Which design trends are you embracing in 2020? Join the conversation on Instagram and let us know.
]]>Although it’s subtle, the star of the HVAC show is ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE’s AG10 F Frame linear bar grille in our popular 94% post-consumer recycled aluminum. The design team at Castle Homes requested these custom grilles be primed as they wished to field paint (aka color match) onsite as there were multiple interior paint colors being used throughout the house. Sleek and modern just like the Whole Home Concept House itself, these grilles deliver not only on function but on designer-approved aesthetics as well. This grille has a fixed core with zero deflection and is pencil-proof, meaning there’s no way a pencil is dropping between those ¼” spaced bars.
Spot the AG10 F Frame above the stunning central circular staircase leading from the entrance foyer designed by the legendary Vern Yip, to the Upstairs Landing designed by the talented team at Modern Remains.
Then find it in a whimsical child’s bedroom, created by Dallas-based designer Amy Berry.
Just look up to spot it again in the modern and minimalist office designed by the “NYC tech scene’s interior designer of choice”, Danielle Arps of Dani Arps.
In fact, look up in nearly every hallway, and you’ll see an AG10 F Frame.
The AG10 F Frame also makes an appearance in the home gym, created by the Castle Homes design team, Rachel Haag and Joy Huber.
And that’s not the only ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE vent cover to make an appearance in the gym! This room also features a 206 Maltese Perforated Grille in solid brass with an unlacquered finish, a beautiful addition that’s sure to motivate any design-loving exerciser.
The 206 Maltese Perforated Grille in unlacquered brass was also used in Vern Yip’s living room design, where it contributes to the elegance of the room while also guaranteeing high engineering performance for optimal air flow.

]]>ARCHITECTURAL GRILLE was approached by Frederick Tang of Frederick Tang Architecture to provide our original Spackle In J-Frame Bar Grilles for HVAC ceiling and wall applications throughout the new Shantideva Center (Yogis + Yoginis) located in Park Slope (Brooklyn), NY. With the center being located in our neighborhood, and several of our staff having the personal experience of attending yoga practice at the studio, it added an extra special personal joy to work on this project.
